On Thursday, Oura announced the highly anticipated Oura Ring 4, now available for preorder at $349. The newest iteration of their smart ring offers a sleeker design, new sensors for enhanced health tracking, and up to eight days of battery life. Alongside the ring, Oura has also introduced a redesigned app to improve the user experience by organizing health data into more accessible tabs.

Oura Ring 4: Smarter Sensing and Sleeker Design

The Oura Ring 4 arrives with a variety of updates, including its advanced “Smart Sensing” platform. This platform utilizes new sensors and algorithms to provide more accurate data, especially for metrics like blood oxygen levels, heart rate (both day and night), and breathing disturbances. Oura explained that while previous models had raised sensors that could feel bumpy, the sensors in the Ring 4 are now flat, making the interior of the ring smoother and more comfortable to wear.

Available in twelve sizes and six colors, including a new black finish, the Oura Ring 4 is set to ship starting October 15. The new model continues to track essential metrics such as sleep, exercise, stress, and heart health, offering users better insight into their overall well-being and lifestyle choices.

    Membership and Flexible Payment Options

While the Oura Ring 4 itself comes with an upfront price of $349, users will also need to subscribe to a membership plan costing $5.99 per month or $69.99 per year, with the first month being free. Oura allows customers to use flexible spending accounts (FSA) or health savings accounts (HSA) to pay for both the ring and the membership, providing flexibility in managing health-related expenses.

    Revamped Oura App

In addition to hardware improvements, Oura is rolling out a redesigned app that organizes user data into three distinct tabs: Today, Vitals, and My Health. The Today tab focuses on providing users with relevant information based on the time of day, offering shortcuts to data such as sleep, activity, readiness, heart rate, and stress. The Vitals tab delves deeper into short-term metrics, while the My Health tab provides a long-term overview of trends in areas such as sleep and cardiovascular health.

Oura’s updated app also enhances its reproductive health features, introducing a new “fertile window” function designed to estimate fertile days and improve users’ chances of tracking ovulation and conception. Though this feature will be fully rolled out in the coming months, members can join a waitlist for early access.

The app is also gaining functionality to automatically track exercise without manual input, enabling users to better correlate daily activity with stress levels. This update is aimed at giving users a clearer understanding of how habits and behaviors influence their stress management throughout the day.

Oura Labs Now Available on Android

In another significant update, Oura Labs—where users can test new features—will now be available on Android devices. Previously exclusive to iPhone users, this expansion will allow a wider range of users to participate in testing and provide feedback on the latest developments in Oura’s health-tracking technology.

The Oura Ring 4 solidifies its place in the health technology market by offering not only advanced tracking but also a comfortable design and an intuitive app experience. With the inclusion of smart sensors, an enhanced reproductive health feature, and automatic exercise tracking, Oura continues to innovate and adapt to users’ needs, making it an ideal companion for those focused on improving their overall wellness.
