Foldables, wearables and more expected at summer showcase
Samsung has confirmed that its next Galaxy Unpacked event will take place on July 9 at 10AM ET, marking the company’s third major product reveal of 2025. Following earlier unveilings of the Galaxy S25 series and the Galaxy S25 Edge, this mid-year showcase is expected to highlight new foldables, smartwatches and possibly more.
According to leaks and the company’s past release pattern, Samsung is poised to introduce the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. One recent report suggests that Gemini Live—Google’s advanced AI assistant—will be deeply integrated into the new foldables. While AI features in last year’s models were seen more as novelties, Samsung may be aiming for deeper functionality this time.
Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Fold Ultra teased
New renders published by Android Headlines show a slimmer Galaxy Z Fold 7 with increased screen sizes: a 6.5-inch cover display and an 8.2-inch inner screen. The navy blue finish adds to a more refined aesthetic. Meanwhile, images of the Z Flip 7 indicate slightly larger displays as well, potentially addressing past criticisms about usability.
More intriguingly, Samsung has teased a potential Galaxy Z Fold Ultra. While details are scarce, the company has promised “industry-leading hardware and seamless AI integration.” Rumors of a tri-fold design remain unconfirmed, but a surprise unveiling is still possible.
Galaxy Watch 8: Incremental or breakthrough?
On the wearable front, expectations for the Galaxy Watch 8 remain modest. Samsung’s smartwatches have seen minimal changes in recent years, with Galaxy Watch 7 widely viewed as an incremental update. For Unpacked 2025, the spotlight may fall on improved battery life or AI-driven health features, if any major surprises emerge.
Galaxy S25 FE rumors gain steam
Adding to the speculation, Samsung may also use the event to unveil the Galaxy S25 FE. While not confirmed, several leaks point to a fall release for this fan-edition model. The Galaxy S24 FE was criticized for its price and lackluster AI features. Early reports suggest the S25 FE could include the Exynos 2400 processor and better battery performance, though camera specs may remain unchanged.
With AI integration dominating product strategy and rivals like Apple and Google making similar moves, all eyes are on whether Samsung can offer meaningful innovation or just more refinement. Unpacked 2025 could prove to be a pivotal moment.
