Buffalo’s playoff hopes rested squarely on Josh Allen’s shoulders on Wild Card Weekend, and once again, he delivered. Battling injuries, pressure, and history, Allen led the Bills to a dramatic 27–24 road victory, snapping an eight-game franchise road losing streak in the postseason.
When the game was on the line, Allen was calm, precise, and unstoppable. On the decisive 66-yard drive late in the fourth quarter, he completed all five of his passes for 53 yards, highlighted by a crucial 36-yard strike to Brandin Cooks. He also added 12 rushing yards on three carries, keeping the drive alive with both his arm and his legs.
Poise under pressure
Allen credited the team’s composure and preparation for the successful final drive.
“It felt good to know we had all three timeouts,” Allen said. “We had enough time on the clock to run our offense where there was no panic, no rush.”
That confidence translated directly onto the field. Allen capped the drive with a powerful 1-yard touchdown run, his third total score of the game, which ultimately sealed the win after a game-clinching interception moments later.
A complete performance
Statistically, Allen was outstanding. He finished 28 of 35 passing for 273 yards and a key 15-yard touchdown pass to Dalton Kincaid midway through the fourth quarter that briefly put Buffalo back in front. On the ground, he added 33 yards on 11 carries and scored twice, repeatedly punishing the defense with physical runs.
His final rushing touchdown will likely become one of the defining moments of his postseason career, at least until the next one arrives.
“You know, we’re going to play for each other, we’re gonna fight to the very last second, and you saw that here today,” Allen said.
Playing through pain
The performance was even more remarkable given the punishment Allen absorbed. In the first half alone, he was evaluated for a possible concussion, injured his throwing hand on a pass attempt, and twisted his knee on an earlier 2-yard touchdown run. None of it slowed him down.
Allen played through every setback, showing resilience and leadership as Buffalo leaned on him in the most critical moments. On a day when history loomed and the margin for error was thin, he embraced the challenge.
This was not just a playoff win. It was a statement performance from a quarterback determined to carry his team wherever it needs to go.
