Freezing rain and ice expected across multiple regions
Delta Air Lines is closely monitoring forecasts that predict significant winter weather over the coming days, including freezing rain, sleet and ice accumulation across Texas, the Southeast and into the Northeast.
The weather system is expected to impact major travel corridors, including the Southeast, where Delta’s largest hub in Atlanta could experience disruptions. The airline said safety remains its top priority as it evaluates conditions and determines whether schedule adjustments will be necessary.
Fee-free changes available for affected customers
To help customers manage potential disruptions, Delta is offering added flexibility for travelers with existing bookings. Customers who wish to adjust their travel plans can make changes without incurring change fees by visiting Delta.com or using the Delta mobile app.
Delta emphasized that if a flight is canceled or a delay leads to a missed connection, the airline will work to rebook customers on the next available flight.
Passengers urged to monitor flight status
The airline is encouraging customers to monitor their flight status closely through Delta’s website or mobile app. Travelers can also opt to receive real-time updates by email or mobile notifications.
Delta said it will aim to provide as much advance notice as possible regarding any changes to flight schedules as the winter weather system develops.
Operational readiness remains a focus
As winter weather continues to affect large parts of the United States, airlines often face challenges related to de-icing, airport conditions and air traffic flow. Delta said it remains focused on minimizing disruption while prioritizing the safety of both customers and employees.
Customers with upcoming travel plans are advised to stay informed and consider flexible options if their itinerary falls within affected regions.
