    Administration Goes All-In

The LSU Tigers are awaiting a final decision from Lane Kiffin as the program continues an aggressive pursuit of the Ole Miss head coach. Following the departure of Brian Kelly in late October, LSU leadership quickly identified Kiffin as its top target. Athletics director Verge Ausberry is leading the search alongside a high-profile committee that includes Scott Ballard, John Carmouche, former LSU player and shipyard CEO Ben Bordelon, E.J. Kleeper of Our Lady of the Lake, and newly appointed university president Wade Rousse.

The Tigers have now fully entered what many are calling the “Kiffin Sweepstakes,” competing directly with Ole Miss and Florida for one of the most sought-after coaches in college football.

Momentum Reportedly Shifting to Baton Rouge

According to a CBS Sports report, LSU has gained significant traction in the last 24 hours. Multiple sources cited by the outlet believe the momentum is now leaning toward Kiffin choosing Baton Rouge, although they stress that no final decision has been made.

Throughout the week, Kiffin has been described as going “back and forth,” weighing the long-term opportunity at LSU against remaining in Oxford. At various points, insiders felt he was leaning toward LSU, only for sentiment to shift again the following day as he continued evaluating his options.

Decision Coming After the Egg Bowl

Ole Miss athletics director Keith Carter met with Kiffin on Friday, and both parties agreed he would coach in the Egg Bowl against Mississippi State on November 28. He will then announce his future plans the next day. LSU’s administration is preparing to move quickly once the decision is made.

If Kiffin ultimately leaves Ole Miss for LSU or Florida, school officials have reportedly made it clear he will not coach the Rebels in the College Football Playoff. Yahoo Sports reporter Ross Dellenger noted that administrators decided weeks ago that a departing Kiffin would not remain through the postseason.

    High Stakes for All Sides

The outcome carries major implications for the SEC landscape. LSU is positioning itself to make a landmark hire and reset its football trajectory. Ole Miss is trying to retain the coach who delivered consistent success and elevated the program’s national profile. Florida remains in the hunt as well, though recent reporting suggests LSU may have the inside track.

A definitive answer is expected Saturday, closing out a tense week in one of the most closely watched coaching decisions of the season.
