Alleged Dummies Show Wider Form Factor

Apple’s long-rumored folding iPhone, widely expected to debut in September, has surfaced in what are described as early “dummy” models. The device, potentially branded as the iPhone Fold or iPhone Ultra, appears alongside mockups of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max.

The images were shared by well-known leaker Sonny Dickson, who posted bright pink metallic prototypes intended to represent final sizing rather than color. If accurate, the foldable device features a notably wide profile when opened, differentiating it from many existing foldable smartphones.

    Tablet-Like Display Approach

Unlike most current foldables that expand into a near-square display, the leaked design suggests a wider, more rectangular unfolded screen. The proportions resemble a compact tablet positioned horizontally, potentially offering a more natural viewing experience for media and multitasking.

Reports indicate the unfolded display may measure slightly smaller than the original iPad mini, positioning the Fold as a hybrid between smartphone and small tablet. When folded, the device appears shorter than the Pro models, suggesting improved portability without adopting the clamshell “flip” format.

Comparison With iPhone 18 Pro Models

Placed next to the alleged iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max dummies, the Fold looks compact in its closed form. The Pro models are expected to retain a similar overall shape to current flagship designs, making the foldable variant stand out visually due to its stubbier height and broader footprint.

If the design proves accurate, the Fold could balance pocket convenience with a noticeably larger internal screen, offering users more display space without the bulk of a full-size tablet.

    Release Timing Back on Track

Earlier reports suggested Apple might delay its foldable launch due to manufacturing and testing challenges. However, a recent update from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicates the device remains on schedule for a September unveiling.

That assessment counters previous speculation that the Fold might slip into 2027. Investor concerns had briefly weighed on Apple’s stock following delay rumors, but newer reporting suggests development remains aligned with Apple’s standard product timeline.

While Apple has not officially confirmed the device, mounting leaks and supply chain chatter point to a significant product debut that could reshape the company’s smartphone lineup.
