Tri-fold design redefines foldable smartphones
Samsung is officially bringing its most ambitious foldable device to market. The Galaxy Z TriFold becomes available in the United States starting January 30, 2026, introducing a multi-folding design that opens into a full 10-inch display. The device is aimed at users seeking both smartphone portability and tablet-level productivity in a single form factor.
When folded, the Galaxy Z TriFold fits into a pocket, while unfolding twice reveals a large screen designed for multitasking, media consumption, and creative workflows. Samsung positions the device as a bridge between phone and tablet, rather than a replacement for either.
Ultra-level performance in a thin form factor
At just 3.9 mm at its thinnest point, the Galaxy Z TriFold is Samsung’s slimmest foldable yet. Despite the thin profile, it delivers flagship-grade hardware powered by the customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy.
The device features a 200-megapixel camera system, Samsung’s largest battery ever installed in a foldable phone, and performance comparable to its Ultra lineup. The large display allows users to edit photos, manage documents, and multitask with multiple apps on screen without compromise.
Galaxy AI built for productivity and creativity
Galaxy Z TriFold places artificial intelligence at the core of the user experience. Integrated Galaxy AI features include Photo Assist, Generative Edit, and Sketch to Image, enabling advanced creative workflows directly on the device.
Beyond content creation, AI also supports everyday tasks. Users can ask contextual questions, multitask across apps, and interact naturally using voice. With Gemini Live, the device can understand what users see, say, and do in real time, offering guidance and responses tailored to on-screen activity.
Durability engineered for multi-fold reliability
Supporting the tri-fold design is a new titanium hinge system and reinforced display overcoat designed to improve shock absorption. Samsung has subjected the Galaxy Z TriFold to extensive durability testing, including a 200,000-cycle multi-fold test equivalent to roughly five years of heavy daily use.
Each unit undergoes strict quality controls, including CT scanning of the flexible printed circuit board, to ensure long-term reliability and structural integrity.
Pricing and availability
The Galaxy Z TriFold launches at a starting price of $2,899 and is available in a Crafted Black finish with 512GB of storage. It will be sold through Samsung.com and Samsung Experience Stores across the U.S., where demo units are already on display.
