New paid fast delivery tiers roll out nationally

Amazon is rolling out one hour and three hour delivery options across many U.S. cities, widening its push into fast delivery as it competes with services such as Instacart, DoorDash, and Uber Eats.

The company says more than 90,000 items will be eligible. When a product qualifies for the faster service, shoppers will see a label in the Amazon app indicating whether it can arrive within one hour or three hours. Amazon is also adding a filter to help customers browse items that qualify for the new delivery windows.

Pricing differs for Prime and non Prime customers

Amazon Prime members will pay $9.99 for one hour delivery and $4.99 for three hour delivery. Customers without Prime will pay $19.99 for one hour delivery and $14.99 for three hour delivery.

Availability spans major metros and smaller markets

Amazon says the one hour option will be available in hundreds of cities, including parts of large metropolitan areas such as Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., as well as smaller markets like Des Moines, Boise, and American Fork. The three hour option will be available in more than 2,000 U.S. cities and towns.

To support discovery, Amazon is launching a dedicated storefront where customers can browse items eligible for these delivery speeds.

Amazon leans on existing same day fulfillment network

Amazon says it will power the new options through its existing same day fulfillment sites. The company framed the move as a way to save customers time while adding value to Prime membership.

Fast delivery is a renewed play for quick commerce

This is not Amazon’s first attempt at rapid delivery. The company launched one hour delivery through its Prime Now service in 2014, then discontinued it in 2021. More recently, Amazon piloted a 30 minute delivery option in Seattle and Philadelphia in December 2025.

Amazon has also been testing quick commerce internationally, including a 10 minute grocery and essentials service in India and a 15 minute delivery offering in the United Arab Emirates.
